The Elevate+ Accelerator run by Impact Boom came to a close on Monday Night at the Elevate+ Showcase where all 12 enterprises pitched to a full room at The Triffid.
Pitching at The Triffid
Over the past 20 weeks, Barbara and a cohort of social enterprise leaders have been attending the Elevate+ Accelerator to build scalable and sustainable social enterprises. They have been joined every week by outstanding mentors and key leading icons in the sector to share their knowledge and insights into social enterprises and how to run them successfully.
Some Key talks were given by the likes of; Leanne Butterworth from Empathy First, Justin Hogg from Right Source, and Katie Richards from Law On Earth
The in-person sessions were paired with online resources and modules that contribute to the key learnings and takeaways from each session and complement the area of focus for each week. Included in the online content were snippets from Impact Boom’s own podcast where they interview and have discussions with other inspirational influencers and entrepreneurs in the sector.
On the 28th November, the Elevate+ Accelerator finished with a bang. The Elevate+ Showcase closed off the program with pitches from all 12 social enterprises to a room full of change makers at The Triffid. Some incredible pitches to note include:
- Renee Shea announced the launch of the online empowerment and resource platform, Promote Her
- Cowan Warn with over 10 years working experience in the Social Services sector announced his new innovation to help wheelchair-bound clients live their independent life. The Ulift
- Corrine Trang, the founder of Anicca Ceramics, who has taken her knowledge of design and architecture to help Australian Tiny Home Pods through the sale of her mindfulness product.
Special mention to Michael and Daniel from Cirqle Group who were awarded with the People’s Choice award and will receive further mentorship from the team at Impact Boom.
Congratulations to all participants and social enterprises for all the excellent work you have achieved and we look forward to following your inspirational journeys in the future.
A New Collaboration Coming in 2023
Throughout this program, Barbara has been inspired by conversations she’s had with those who have attended events in 2022 and the idea of collaboration to make a bigger impact.
This discussion began with a chance meeting with Shannen from TradeMutt at the Social Enterprise World Forum. Barbara wanted to discuss more about their charity and how it was set up to support those who purchase their products and anyone who comes in contact with the conversation-starting shirts and workwear.
Visit the TradeMutt wesbite to find out more about the impact they’re creating.
Then an idea grew, starting a conversation. Barbara discussed how hard it was for some men and bereaved partners and fathers in particular to have a conversation around loss and grief of losing a baby as some don’t feel seen, heard, or acknowledged. This is something that she strongly wants to address and encourage this conversation more. She proposed the idea of a custom design in pink and blue for pregnancy and infant loss awareness so women, partners, and especially bereaved dads can be more seen and be supported by having meaningful conversation.
While having this conversation, Barbara started to think about what the design would actually look like and who the artist could be. Immediately, she thought of one person, someone she has already been inspired and moved by at the AusMumpreneur conference a few weeks prior to the SEWF. Bobbi Lockyer.
Bobbi Lockyer is a change maker in her own right, a queer First Nations artist from the Pilbara region in WA. Bobbi embodies what it means to be determined, ambitious, and refuses to be told what is possible or impossible. We are completely honoured to be working with Bobbi on this beautiful design and collaboration and can’t thank her enough for her generous support.
