Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards

This year, Barbara Armstrong was nominated and successfully selected as a top 5 finalist in the 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Barbara has shown great leadership through adversity by persevering her own ambitions and determination on behalf of this organisation, and after experiencing a devastating loss through miscarriage, she developed a solution to try create positive social impact for those who will experience loss of their own.

Through mentorship and training that she has received from a number of Accelerators and programs, she has innovated and developed the original idea of being a charity dependant on donations to a social enterprise, enabling families and friends to purchase care packages for a loved one who has had a miscarriage.

The Future for Barbara and Sweet Peanuts

Barbara strongly believes that she has found a passion for philanthropy and a life-long career in the Third Sector. Through recent study, she has made invaluable connections and support from peers and faculty alike. For that reason, she will endeavour to continue her study to complete a Masters in Business degree as she moves to further develop Sweet Peanuts into a national organisation, leading the conversation about improving support for bereaved parents. She is excited to see this organisation grow to help women and couples from all backgrounds in metro, rural, regional, and remote parts of Australia.

“As I work through developing Sweet Peanuts over the next coming years, I will encourage honest feedback from stakeholders to ensure the best pathway to continue the progress of a scalable and successful organisation”
